Mountain Club at Cashiers has something to offer everyone year round. With a mild climate in the summer and a good chance of snow in the winter, the beauty of Western North Carolina can be experienced every day. Listed below is a general overview of what to expect during each season.
Spring
Spring is the most varied seasons in Cashiers. It can bring snow or a heat wave, but typically it is a mild and wet season. March is the dampest month of the year with an average of 9 inches of precipitation. Expect to see new leaves, vibrant wildflowers and fresh life as the mountains thaw to reveal botanical treasures.
Summer
Summers in Western North Carolina are mild with average temperatures in the 80s. July is the warmest month of the year. Expect the range of temperature from the low at night to the high during the day to be around 20. In late summer it’s possible to see widespread heavy rain as the occasional cold front moves through the mountains.
Fall
Cooler temperatures arrive as the leaves start to change colors. Highs typically are in the 60s and 70s which is perfect for hiking and other outdoor activities. Fall is the driest season in Cashiers. The leaves start the transition to their brilliant colors in October and peak in late October to early November.
Winter
The Mountains of Western North Carolina have an occasional blanket of snow. The average high is in the 40s, but do not be surprised to see a heavy snowfall with cold temperatures or a sunny day with temperatures in the 60s. January is the coldest month with an average low temperature of 23 degrees.
